TYPO Conference

Monday, 12 September 2011

London is buzzing with Design events this autumn. As well as the London Design Festival, which is currently on at the V&A, and the YCN Student Awards (which I will be attending later this month), the capital will host the return of Europe's foremost design conference, TYPO.

Following sixteen successfull years of TYPO Berlin, TYPO London is a three day conference on graphic design, typography, publishing and communication, and features an amazing speaker programme full of A-listers from the world of visual communication. The list includes design pioneers Neville Brody, Michael Bierut, and Erik Spiekermann, and the likes of Gary Hustwit (director of HELVETICA and OBJECTIFIED), and Eva-Lotta Lamm (the former design lead at Skype).

This short film on the TYPO Blog documents the history and background of the event -

As well as a website to promote the event, there is also an interesting TYPO Blog with lots of updates and speaker information as it happens.

As usual with these events, the only downside is the cost of attending, which is around £650 for a Professional Ticket and £250 for a Student. Steep but in all probability, well worth it.
